Swanage Carnical Week

Swanage Regatta and Carnival takes place every year. Starting on the last Saturday in July, there are eight days featuring over 100 events. The South Coast's premier carnival has something for everyone. Live music every day on the beach front, the half marathon, sandcastle competitions, the Sailing Regatta, treasure hunts and magnificent firework displays are just a few of the things that are on offer. On the Sunday afternoon you can soak up the carnival atmosphere with one of the longest processions in the area and join in all the fun.

In 2007 Swanage Carnival raised over £20,000. The money helped many good causes both locally and nationally. The Red Arrows amazed everyone with their daring performance in 2008. Every year promises to be bigger and better and with the help of all the people who are involved it really is one of the best weeks of the year.

Swanage Blues Festival

Early March each year, Swanage plays home to the Swanage Blues Festival. Started in 2000, this event has gone from strength to strength and gets bigger each year. With a full programme for the whole weekend, the festival has more than 40 gigs in over 15 indoor venues, including open mic and jam sessions. Admission to all events is free.

Swanage Blues and Roots Festival

After the success of the Swanage Blues Festival, in 2007 the organisers introduced the Swanage Blues and Roots Festival. Although this event is not as well established as the original, it is becoming more popular each year. Admission to all events is free.

Swanage Folk Festival

The most colourful of all the festivals is the friendly Folk Festival. Many dance sides from all over the county flock to Swanage in their costumes and add a vibrancy to the atmosphere in the town. The weekend is full of music, dancing and workshops; on the Saturday afternoon a procession dances through the streets. There are workshops for the children and music venues throughout the town. The festival consists of free events and some which require tickets.
